Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your style?

I take a documentary style approach and photograph the day by being as unobtrusive as possible. My aim is to photograph you, your family and all of your guests having a fantastic time without imposing myself on what’s happening, while also making sure I capture all the details that make your day unique. I work with natural light as much as possible, as I feel it captures the look of the day in the most accurate way. The most important thing for me is that when you look back on your wedding day photos you feel like you’re reliving a personal memory, and not my version of it. I’ll never tell you what to do, and instead focus on all the moments (big and small!) which will unfold naturally. I’d like to think of myself as a guest with a camera so when someone at a wedding asks me ‘How do you know ___ and ___?’ it’s truly the best compliment I could receive. We'll also set aside a small pocket of time to get some photos of just the two of you when the light is at its best. For this, I'll give you minimal direction/posing for as you enjoy a few minutes away from everyone. I don't want to keep you away from your wedding guests (or the delicious canapés and drinks!) for too long, so I normally keep these to between 15-20 minutes and try to do them when everything is finding their way to their seats. It’s really important to me that I don’t impose myself on the day because I can get the best photos when you’re fully present having a great time with everyone that’s there.

And what about your editing?

Most couples I’ve worked with describe my editing as quite colourful and sharp. I give your photos just a little bit of colour without making them look garish or over-saturated. I want your wedding photos to look as real today as they will in 50 years, and not represent whatever editing trend was “in style” when you got married. I always spend time working with each single photo I deliver in order to make sure that it is up to the standards of the work displayed on my website.

Will you still take formal photos of us and our families?

Absolutely! I am more than happy to take these for you too, and have actually taken them at every wedding I have photographed. We will work together on a list of the ones you want to take and ask one of the groomsmen or bridesmaids to help with rounding up the necessary people. I always suggest doing these right after the ceremony so that you can enjoy the rest of your day without worrying about when they will be taken. I usually recommend around ten groupings and these normally take me 15-20 minutes.

What happens after you've photographed my wedding?

I will send your edited photos to you no later than six weeks after the wedding day. You will receive these via an online gallery where you will be able to download them and share them with family and friends. Part of my job as a wedding photographer is to curate your story and deliver you the photos that represent your day as best as possible - this just means getting rid of all the blurry and out of focus ones. I’d love to send you a few recent galleries I’ve delivered so you have a better idea of what to expect.

How many photos do I get?

Depending on how long I am there, you will receive at least 300 photos for 8 hours, 400 for 10 hours and 500 for a full day of 12 hours. I will never limit the amount of photos you receive, so If I take 600 amazing photos during your 10-hour wedding, you will get all 600.

How much is the deposit? And when is the full balance due?

Deposits start at £300 depending on how long you book me for. The remainder of the balance is due four weeks before the wedding date.

Will you travel for my wedding? Will it cost me extra?

I am based in Richmond, London but I will photograph your wedding wherever it is. I have photographed weddings all over England and also in Wales, USA, Puerto Rico and Germany! Travel within England is covered, but I do ask that you cover two nights of accommodation if you book me for 10/12 hours and you're getting married outside of London. This just means I can be with you from as early as you'd like me to be without worrying about travel logistics. For Europe weddings add a £500 travel fee and for anywhere else add £1500.

How do I book you?

Get in touch! We’ll have a video chat over Google Meets (or in person, if you’re local) to talk about your plans and see if we’re a good fit for each other. And by this I just mean whether you like my approach and feel I’m nice enough to have around for the day! To separate the date I require a signed contract and deposit. From then on, we'll stay in touch leading up to the wedding and I’ll email you about eight weeks before the date so that we can meet again to confirm all of the details. Hearing about you and your plans for the day helps me get a better feel for the type of day you’re planning and what’s most important to you.

How do you organize yourself in anticipation of my wedding day?

At our catch-up we’ll go through a timeline for the day so that I know what’s happening. Things might slightly change on the day (and I'm very relaxed about that!), so in the end the timeline is more of a rough framework for me to know what is happening when and where.

Do you deliver black and white images?

Although I love colour, I sometimes deliver a few images in black and white if it enhances the emotion of the image or the lighting in the image works in its favour. I'll never make an image black and white just for the sake of it being in black and white.

Do you sell prints and albums?

You can conveniently order beautiful prints for an additional cost through the online gallery where you receive your images. I also offer fine-art, leather-bound albums that are hand-made in the UK. If you decide to order an album we'd work together on choosing the photos that matter the most to you. I'll send you the album design so you can revise it and tell me whether there is anything you'd like changed. We continue this process until you are 100% happy with the layout and then it is sent to the workshop to be assembled and delivered to you. You are more than welcome to watch a video I recently made here.

What equipment do you use?

I photograph with two Sony A7iii (but have a third as a backup!) and a variety of lenses to make sure I can capture your day from various perspectives. For 99% of the day I will have a 35mm lens on one camera and an 85mm on the other. I also have two flashes that I might use once the sun has set, depending on what the lighting is like. At most weddings, I only start using the flash once the party begins. Each camera holds two memory cards, so your photos are immediately backed up the second I take them and then backed up again to multiple places as soon as I get home.

Are you insured?

Yes, I have both public liability and indemnity insurance, and would be happy to provide a certificate if your venue requires it.

Can I see a full wedding gallery?

Of course! Send me an email and I'll be more than happy to send you some full galleries of weddings I’ve recently photographed.
